Disciple Bible Study

Tuesdays at 6:30 pm – ROOM 108 & ZOOM

Disciple Fast Track Remember Who You Are examines the connection between memory and identity as the people of God. Participants will find common themes, including calls to remember, calls to repent, calls for renewal, and calls for community.

A 12-week session on the Old Testament major and minor prophets (except Daniel) begins September 26 and runs through December 12.

Another 12-week session will be held late winter/early spring, covering the New Testament Letters of Paul.

This is a drop-in hybrid class, offered both in-person in Room 108 and on Zoom. Your registration covers both fall and winter sessions.  CLICK HERE TO REGISTER.

Soup and Study

Tuesdays at NOON – Room 108

Pastor Jess hosts this casual lunchtime Bible study. Bring your Bible and your appetite! Soup is provided on a rotating basis by class participants. No registration is necessary.

Chapel Chat

sundays at 10 am – CHAPEL

Chapel Chat is a weekly drop-in class for conversation about the topics of the previous week. This class is usually hosted by one of the pastors, though some weeks may feature a guest speaker to teach or tell us about a local initiative.

The Wired Word

SUNDAYS AT 10 AM – ROOM 218

The Wired Word takes topics from the news and examines them through a faith-based lens. This is a drop-in class and no registration is necessary.

The Upper Room Bible Study

The Upper Room Bible Study uses The Upper Room bi-monthly devotional booklet as a stepping-off point for meaningful conversation. Booklets are available at the church.

Small Group Opportunities at Portage Chapel Hill

Park Village Pines Bible Study

The Park Village Pines Group is a small group that participates in book studies or video studies with a spiritual growth theme. They meet weekly on Thursdays from 1:30 – 3 pm in the Library. Sisters in Spirit

This is a group of women who love books! The group explores topics of theology, spirituality, social justice and living in the world. All women are welcome. This group meets weekly from 10 – 11:30 am Wednesdays at the home of Jean Christie, 6108 Cypress St., Portage (wheelchair accessible). A Zoom option is available. Mission Quilters

If you can thread a needle and tie a knot, you can be a Mission Quilter! The group creates quilts that are distributed at no cost to area refugee families, The Free Store at Sunnyside United Methodist Church, YWCA Women’s shelter, and many other organizations. The Mission Quilters meet Thursdays from 6 – 8 pm in Room 108, on the lower level of the church building. No experience is necessary. Faith Expedition

This group has book studies and conversation often focusing on topics of racial and social justice. Faith Expedition meets once a month on Sunday afternoons, 1 – 2:30 pm at the church. Please contact Sue Kovats-Bell at [email protected] to learn more.


Sacred Space

Do you have an eye for design and color? Then you might enjoy putting your creativity to use in helping design and decorate the altar space in the Sanctuary each week. Using the weekly scripture provided by the pastors, this group meets in the Sanctuary to discuss the scripture and theme for the week and then design the space using fabrics, pieces from nature, candles, and more, to help interpret the theme.
